Legal AI Platform Legora Secures $550 Million Series D, Reaches $5.6 Billion Valuation

Legora, an artificial intelligence platform designed for legal professionals, has achieved a $5.6 billion valuation following a $550 million Series D funding round. The company announced the financing in a press release on Tuesday, March 10.

Max Junestrand, co-founder and CEO of Legora, stated that U.S. adoption has accelerated beyond expectations as law firms and corporate legal departments transition from pilot programs to fully integrating AI into their operations. “This funding enables us to accelerate our U.S. growth, investing in talent and infrastructure, strengthening our presence in key markets, and ensuring we can support customers on the ground as they integrate AI into their core workflows,” Junestrand said.

The funding coincides with Legora’s first anniversary in the United States and follows significant customer acquisitions and partnerships with prominent law firms. The company plans to open new offices and expand its U.S. workforce to over 300 employees this year.

In a recent statement addressing competitor developments, Junestrand emphasized the distinction between simple AI plugins and Legora’s comprehensive platform. He described the platform as a collaborative, enterprise-grade system featuring structured document review, bulk editing capabilities, deep integrations with legal software like iManage and NetDocuments, agentic workflows, and citation-backed legal research.

The new valuation of $5.6 billion represents substantial growth from the company’s $1.8 billion valuation in October, when it raised $150 million in a Series C round. The latest figure is slightly below the $6 billion valuation target reported last month.

The investment underscores the broader trend of AI becoming embedded infrastructure within the legal industry, transforming core functions such as research, contracting, compliance, and billing. Industry analysis suggests the sector is moving beyond experimentation, with successful platforms being those that integrate indispensably into professional workflows.
